Other plays include Where the Sun is Silent, Christmas Lights, Four Years, Hotel Worthington, The Woman in 302, The Director, Deadbeats, Summer Share, A Dustrumpian Christmas Carol, which premiered in December 2017 at the Carriage House Theater, and The Audience Member which premiered in March 2019 at the Connecticut Drama Association’s Annual Play Festival. Prenetta’s work has been produced and developed by the Opening Knight Players, the James Clemons Theater Company, Liperly Productions, and the Long Trail Theater Company, among other groups. For his play, Silenced on Barbour Street, Prenetta earned the Best Play Honors at the 2010 Connecticut Drama Association Festival, the 2014 Vermont State Theater Festival, and the 2016 Alabama State Theater Festival. His play Deadbeats also earned the Best Play Award at the 2014 Connecticut Drama Association’s Play Festival and represented CT at the New England Drama Festival. His play, The Silent Sentinels earned the Best One Act Play Award at the 2017 Halo Awards. William earned a MFA in Playwriting/Screenwriting from Lesley University, a Masters in Directing from the School of the Arts at Roosevelt University, a Masters Degree in Education from Tufts University and a BA in communications from the University of Connecticut. A proud member of The Dramatist Guild, Connecticut Drama Association, New England Drama Festival, and the Opening Knight Players, William has taught high school theater for close to 30 years in Connecticut. In his tenure as theater advisor, William, who founded the award-winning Opening Knight Players at Ellington High School, has directed over 60 plays which have been performed throughout New England as well as internationally at the 2012 Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. William is the past President of the Connecticut Drama Association and presently serves on the New England Drama Council. He presently teaches a course titled “How to Write a High School Play” at Lesley University.
