Spoon River (virtual one-act version)
adapted from The Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters
One-act. 35-45 minutes
8-26 actors, gender flexible
This brand new version of Spoon River was created specifically to be performed on a virtual platform, but could also be performed live on stage.
Former citizens of a mythical Midwestern town speak from the grave of the day-to-day hopes and dreams of their lives. Touching, anguished, and contemptuous, their voices and stories weave together in this fresh new take on a modern American classic. You won't forget what you've heard from these distinctively small-town folk as they evoke universal themes of hope, despair, and love.
Royalty fee per virtual performance: $50. A virtual performance is a performance on a platform like Zoom with no audience members physically present. QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
Hello, just looking through the 35-45 minute version of Spoon River. Though designed for virtual, can it be performed live? We are looking for both options (live and virtual) for our school's one act school performance and state competition. Thank you, Kathleen Buttolph, Patrick Henry High School in Glade Spring, VA
Thanks for your interest! You can absolutely perform this version live on stage. The virtual suggestions are merely that. Please let us know if you need anything else at email@example.com
Good evening - we are a community college in Arizona. We are interested in producing this script as a virtual production this spring and wanted to ask a question about royalties. If we post the video of the one-act version of Spoon River Anthology to a platform like Vimeo would the royalties be $50 per day? We are not planning to stream a live performance but post a recorded video of the production from April 28 - May 3.
Hello! Thanks for your quesiton about Spoon River! You are correct about the licensing. It would be $50 for every day the recorded performance was available.
